ISARTHERM® -FLEX-KIN STUFFING-BOX PACKING

Burgmann's Isartherm-Flex-KIN is a stuffing-box packing for high-pressure and high-temperature valves. It is made of expanded graphite foil, reinforced with an Inconel® core for greater stability under pressure, and has a corrosion inhibitor to prevent spindle corrosion.

Isartherm-Flex-KIN provides outstanding elasticity, low shaft-stress, and high cross-sectional density and structural-strength. Its pH chemical stability of 0-14 makes it physiologically safe and ideal for refineries, the petrochemicals industry and power stations.

Isartherm-Flex-KIN's operating-limits are 500bar operating pressure and 2m/s sliding velocity, and it can withstand temperatures of -50°C to +500°C.

TDGS ELASTOMER-FREE METAL-BELLOWS SEAL

The TDGS is a high-efficiency gas-lubricated seal optimally suited for the single-stage steam turbines of the petrochemical and chemical industries.

The TDGS provides wear-free operation and extremely low leakage rates, and has a V-groove notable for its inclined groove-bottom. With no sharp edges at the groove exit where dirt particles can accumulate, all particles are drawn through the sealing gap, providing self-cleaning.

The TDGS gas-lubricated seal also possesses an Inconel metal-bellows as secondary seal for the stationary seal-face, ensuring interruption-free operation even at -50°C or +450°C.

An operating-pressure limit of 25bar and an attainable sliding velocity of 120m/s make the TDGS gas-lubricated seal suitable for steam turbines with shaft diameters from 20mm to 180mm. The TDGS prevents dense-fogging forming around the turbine at low external temperatures.

Advantages of the TDGS gas-lubricated seal include:

  • No steam condensation in the bearing oil
  • Reduced temperature gradient between seal and bearing
  • Greater turbine efficiency
  • Simple turbine conversions
  • Amortisation period of less than a year
  • SiC-Si / carbon-graphite face materials
  • Statotherm® secondary seals
  • Potential pressure reversal
  • Cartridge unit design

STATOTHERM V-FLEX AND 6850 V COVER SEALS

Burgmann's new Statotherm V-Flex and 6850 V cover seals are particularly service-friendly and simplify the inspection process. They come as piece goods with a rectangular cross-section, making them suitable for an extensive variety of applications.

They are self-sealing and extremely efficient. The braided packing is made from permanent-elastic and expanded high-grade graphite foil (≥96% graphite) without a binding agent, which adapts optimally to slanting surfaces, and comes with an internally-fitted Inconel braid that makes for enhanced stability under pressure.

Statotherm V-Flex and 6850 V cover seals can be easily installed and removed without damaging the sealing faces, and are suitable for both new valves and retrofitting. These seals are not subject to hardening or dependent on diameter, but are highly cost and time-efficient.

5mm x 12mm, 7.5mm x 15mm, 10mm x 15mm, 15mm x 30mm and 20mm x 30mm Statotherm V-Flex and 6850 V cover seals are available. Their operating limits are:

  • Temperature: -200°C to +500°C (550°C with steam)
  • Pressure (p): 500bar
  • Chemical resistance pH: 0-14

HIGH-PRESSURE SHF MECHANICAL SEAL

The rugged, balanced, high-performance high-pressure SHF mechanical seal provides low wear-rate, minimal leakage, long-life, low power-consumption and high availability, even at high peripheral-speeds.

The SH series offers high sealing-gap stability combined with minimal leakage rates, and also comes with proven shrink-fit technology for carbon-seal faces. This reduces the parts involved, and lowers sensitivity to unexpected mechanical influences such as pressure surges.

Thanks to the use of optimised face materials, the Burgmann SHF is suitable for use at temperatures up to 300°C, operating pressures up to 55bar and sliding velocities of 65m/s. The SHF is therefore suitable for large-scale multi-stage high-pressure boiler feed-pumps with shaft diameters between 40mm and 220mm.

It is also ideal for retrofitting boiler feed-pumps designed with floating ring-seals or labyrinths, and can be precisely customised and supplied with jacket cooling.

Special characteristics:

  • Fixed-mount mechanical seal
  • Shrink-fitted carbon-seal faces of SiC-Si and carbon-graphite, or SiC-C-Si and SiC-C-Si
  • Loosely inserted SiC-Si rings
  • Temperature-resistant EPDM secondary seals
  • 1.4571, 1.4462 or 1.4122 construction materials
  • Potential pressure reversal
  • Integrated pump unit
  • Available as a cartridge unit (with integrated jacket-cooling)
