Babcock Power UK, an indirect subsidiary of Babcock Power, based in Danvers, MA, has launched a new office site located in Esher, Surrey, UK. On Thursday 19 May, Babcock Power UK invited colleagues, business partners, local dignitaries and business contacts to an opening day event to showcase its capabilities in the UK and to discuss its plans for the future.

Babcock Power UK’s primary goal is to provide solutions for power producers that address the recent EU regulations concerning coal fired power plants and their selective catalyst reduction systems (SCR). Babcock Power UK will be working in consortium with UK engineering companies, as well as employing local engineers directly. The UK compliance date for emission reduction is currently 2016.

John Sheldon, Mayor of Elmbridge, officially opened the office, and talked about Babcock Power’s reputation in the US as a market leader in air pollution control, and other energy related products. “Beginning in 1913 with a subsidiary known as Riley Stoker, Babcock Power is the worldwide SCR leader with over 38,000MW on 68 units operating its proprietary DeltaWing® technology. This represents over 33% of the US market.”

Future Babcock Power plans include expansion of the bpigreen family of products whose major interest is biomass and waste-to-energy, and increase offerings from the Babcock Power Services group to provide its clients with a wide range of services, including burners, mills and pressure parts.
