LOOS Boiler Technology for Breweries and Beverage Companies

Tuesday, July 21, 2009 by LOOS INTERNATIONAL

LOOS INTERNATIONAL is a partner to the beverage industry worldwide. Whether it's bottling plants, dairies, soft drinks manufacturers or breweries – LOOS has the right boiler for any requirement. Global players such as Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola, Red Bull, SABMiller, Heineken and InBev are just as reliant on modern LOOS steam and hot water systems as the local juice producer up the road.

LOOS will be presenting its innovative range of services at the Drinktec trade fair. The LOOS Modular Boiler U-MB, which was only recently presented to the public, is bound to be a topic of great interest for smaller breweries, wine presses and fruit juice manufacturers.

With its integrated flue gas recovery, modern, intuitive regulating and control technology and ready-to-connect boiler house modules, this shell steam boiler is ideal for efficient, fully automated operation.

The range of products offered to larger-scale industrial concerns is no less interesting, however. Only recently, one of the largest breweries in Vietnam – Saigon Beer, Alcohol and Beverages – successfully started operation.

As the general contractor for the project, Krones took over all the tasks relating to engineering, machine and plant technology and controls, plus all the utilities such as water, CO2, compressed air, cold and heat. In the bottling division, the turnkey contract awarded by the brewery includes two identical multipath glass lines, each with a capacity of 30,000 bottles per hour.

The energy requirement for this plant is enormous. At maximum utilisation, a total of 60,000kg steam per hour is required. Three LOOS UNIVERSAL UL-S high-pressure steam generators with a steam capacity of 20,000kg/h each were installed. The Krones MES Manufacturing Execution System package was a central element in the realisation of the turnkey project.

Thanks to the bus-capable LBC and LSC stored program controllers, integration of the boiler system into the complex production data system was very simple. The system is fitted with the LWA water analyser, Teleservice and complete LOOS modular technology for fuel supply, water treatment and water disposal, which means it is ideally equipped to operate efficiently, reliably and fully automatically.

Visit us at Drinktec in Munich from 14 September to 19 September in hall B6, booth 100 (Krones hall). We will be happy to tell you about all the possibilities for producing energy efficiently and ecologically. Discover just how transparent our control systems are, or let us calculate the possible savings on the operating costs for your existing boiler system.
