Loos U-MB Boiler Provides Private Clinic with Steam

11 November 2009

The new U-MB steam boiler model series from Loos International, a company of the Bosch Group, was presented to the public at the international ISH trade fair in Frankfurt, packaged in a multimedia artistic show. Interest in the new product was enormous, and projects and orders were soon pouring in.

One of the first U-MB boiler systems provides an efficient supply of steam for the kitchens and sterilisers of the Rudolfiner House. The Rudolfiner House in Vienna is one of the most modern, attractive private clinics in Europe. Planning and execution were carried out by the system and heating design company Nicola Bostelmann & Sohn Elektroinstallationen, Vienna, Austria. This experienced installation company was supported by the sales team at Loos Austria.

The Loos scope of delivery included all boiler house components in the modular-design steam plant: the innovative U-MB steam boiler with economizer integrated as standard; low-emission combi-burner; fuel supply modules for oil and gas operation; the WTM water softening module; WSM-V feed water service module; and intuitive loos Boiler Control LBC PLC controls with touchscreen and teleservice access.

Once they had been delivered and set up, only the pipes and cabling on the modules had to be connected. Ready-to-plug electrical connections and the detailed LOOS piping diagrams made it easy for the installers to complete the installation quickly and safely.

Alongside the competent advice provided by the Loos Austria team, the modular design, fully automatic operation and easier installation conditions of this modern steam generating unit had been crucial in the decision to award the contract. There was no need for a separate boiler house, as the boiler was installed in the cellar of the historic building.

The new, highly efficient, fully automated yet cost-effective three-pass shell boiler for smaller capacities has an outstanding range of properties and easily complies with all guarantee and limit values. Many U-MB boiler systems have already started operation and LOOS is currently working on many more projects. This design is obviously just as popular as the tried and tested series of Loos steam and hot water boilers.
