B&B-Agema - Power Plant Engineering and Expert Turbomachinery Knowledge

Established in 1995 and located in Aachen (Germany), B&B-Agema GmbH operates worldwide in the interests of its customers. B&B-Agema is an independent engineering service company providing consultancy, expertise, design and calculation for turbomachinery, gas turbines, and power plants.

Within the market of increasing demand of power supply, B&B-Agema is a well experienced partner for operator support on independent power plant status analyses as well as efficiency and power potential analyses for increasing output. Expert support for setting up new power plant concepts is provided.

Due to close cooperation with research and development partners at the RWTH Aachen University, a competence centre has been established that introduces innovative technologies, software developments and a huge variety of engineering expert knowledge to the industrial partners.

INCREASING POWER PLANT PERFORMANCE

The increase of power plant efficiency and operating performance is our major consulting service for power plant operators and utility companies. The services include different kinds of analyses strategies.

The independent power plant status confirmation by an Individual Process Analysis (IPA) is the base concept. Due to comparisons with the reference status, an early detection of efficiency decrease is possible.

The Efficiency Potential Analysis (EPA) helps to improve the plant efficiency status by locating the potentials of each single component and the investigation on optimised plant operation.

The Independent Retrofit Studies (IRS) help not only to realise the overall plant efficiency potential but are also meaningful for validation of promised benefits on actions to be carried out at your power plant.

For establishing new power plants, in particular Combined Cycle Plants (CCP), B&B-Agema provides its Consultancy and Engineering Service Package (CESP) to the utility operator. Thus, the operator will have an independent consultant and partner on his side for supporting decision making and trouble shooting.

GAS TURBINE COMPONENT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

One focus of the company activities is the design, development and optimisation of major gas turbine components (compressor, combustion chamber, turbine) and steam turbines with respect to increased efficiency, availability and reliability. Our design work includes multi-stage axial compressors and centrifugal compressors, development of DLN combustion chambers, aerodynamics and flow path optimisation for multi-stage turbines, and advanced turbine cooling systems and new cooling technologies.

Furthermore, mechanical design of turbine parts and components, e. g. vanes, blades, disks, blisks etc., is part of our design work. All projects are performed by our experts by application of modern and high-quality computational tools for flow simulation, heat transfer calculation, and mechanical stress analyses.

COMPETENCE FOR POWER PLANT EQUIPMENT

B&B-Agema activities are related to the design and optimisation of power plant components, i.e. condensers, cooling towers and heat exchangers, air-cooled condensers, misture separators, control and mixing valves, and exhaust gas ducts.

By taking into account the interaction of aerodynamics, thermodynamics and heat transfer in modern computational tools, the improvement of the performance of heat exchanging components in the power plant process is possible and daily work of B&B-Agema. Constructive concepts and design of hot gas flow duct systems or failure analyses of such systems is provided.
