Frazer-Nash Consultancy - Power Generation Design and Assessment Services

Frazer-Nash Consultancy offers a wide range of services to the power industries to enable its customers to meet their changing needs following the privatisation of the utilities in the early 1990s.

DESIGN AND ASSESSMENT SERVICES FOR POWER-GENERATING COMPANIES

Our activities focus on the provision of design and assessment services to the UK's power-generating companies and power generation equipment manufacturers. Particular emphasis is placed on our customers' need to demonstrate the safe and efficient operation of their plant and equipment within rules laid down by Government legislation.

Frazer-Nash is active in the industrial power-generation market and conducts work on behalf of major manufacturers, users and regulatory authorities, including Rolls-Royce, ABB, Alstom and BMW Rolls-Royce GmbH.

POWER SECTOR CONSULTANCY

The power sector takes advantage of the application of Frazer-Nash's core competencies, namely state-of-the-art Finite Element Analysis (FEA) techniques for structural assessment and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for the prediction of fluid flow and thermal effects.

The company also has in-depth capability in engineering analysis, core engine design, test facilities, instrumentation, and safety and reliability assessment services.

FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS (FEA): STRUCTURAL DESIGN AND ANALYSIS SERVICES

The efficient and safe design of structures, be they passenger transport vehicles, offshore platforms, pressure vessels or process equipment, is vital to their continued profitable operation. A clear need exists for methods which can be used with confidence to design and assess structural integrity and structural performance.

Frazer-Nash Consultancy has an established reputation for supplying design and assessment services to clients in the transport, process, power and other industries.

COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS (CFD) AND THERMAL DYNAMICS

Frazer-Nash Consultancy possesses one of the largest independent aerodynamic, hydrodynamic and thermal analysis teams in the UK. We undertake design, performance assessment, failure analysis and research using techniques ranging from simple analytical methods to state-of-the-art Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools.

We pride ourselves in offering not only the highest level of technical expertise and computational capability, but also a pragmatic, project-oriented approach. Frazer-Nash is wholly independent and without vested interest in either hardware manufacture or CFD equipment sales. Our customers can therefore be assured that the solution to any given requirement will be both appropriate and cost-effective.

ENGINEERING ANALYSIS: CIVIL AEROSPACE

The aerospace sector has always been at the heart of our business, and today we continue the long tradition of innovation that stretches back to the pioneering work of Archie Frazer-Nash himself.

We support major clients around the world in the design, analysis and assurance of both airframe and power plant systems.
