PSD Completes the Design, Construction and Commissioning of a Modular Control Room for The Bluff Windfarm

The Bluff Wind Farm project is located approximately 10km west north-west of Hallett in rural South Australia. The wind power plant comprises 25 wind turbine generators.

PSD was responsible for the electrical design of the wind farm. PSD was also responsible for the design, partial supply and commissioning of the substation, which comprised of:

  • 5 x 33kV feeders
  • 7 x 33kV capacitor banks
  • 2 x 4Mvar DVARs
  • 1 x 8Mvar reactor

The following formed part of the PSD scope of works:

  • Bulk earthworks design
  • Drainage design
  • Civil foundation design
  • 33kV reticulation design
  • Primary plant design
  • Secondary system design
  • SCADA system design (using state-of-the-art Ethernet comms links)
  • Protection panel supply
  • 15 x 4.5m fire rated control room
  • 33kV GIS switchboard design and installation
  • 415V AC board (using Siemens auto transfer switch)
  • 125V DC system
  • UPS system
  • Gas suppression system
