Analysis and Planning of Island Operation

Solvina has recently successfully delivered complete plans for island operation of several regions and smaller districts in Sweden.
The work has included:
- planning and testing of black start
- tests and analysis of dynamic performance during island
- operation, especially how to control active and reactive power balance using turbine governors and generator excitation control
- recommendations and instructions to power grid and power plant operators
- plans for island operation management and communication
- Training of power plant operators and network operators using a real time simulator
The work has resulted in a power system with a vastly improved ability to restore after major breakdowns. The tests and tuning of power plant control systems have also resulted in better overall dynamic performance of the power plants.
