Solvina has successfully performed a simulated island operation test at a combined-cycle power plant. The plant produces a maximum of 261 MW power and 294 MW heat. Power is produced by three gas turbines and one steam turbine.
During the test, all four turbines were simulated to be run in island operation using Solvina's test equipment SolvSim Power Station (SSPS). This meant that frequency control could be analyzed and tuned for island operation conditions although the turbines were synchronized with the main grid throughout the test. After idientifying some problems with gas supply of one of the gas turbines and tuning of some control parameters the plant is now ready for real island operation. There is no doubt that Solvina’s tests clearly increased plant availability.
