Pt. Navigat selected as GE Energy's Jenbacher Engine Distributor for Indonesia

04 May 2005 09:47

With Indonesia seeking to increase its production of natural gas-generated power, GE Energy has selected PT. Navigat Innovative Indonesia as a distribution and service provider in Indonesia for GE's line of Jenbacher gas engines.

The agreement with Jakarta-based PT. Navigat covers the marketing, sales and after-sales service of the Jenbacher portfolio of reciprocating engines, packaged generator sets and cogeneration units. Jenbacher engines run on natural gas and various "specialty gases" created from biomass, landfills, coal mines, sewage and industrial wastes.

PT. Navigat, a leading Southeast Asian energy systems and solutions provider, has sales offices in Indonesia's capital of Jakarta; in the city of Bandung, 180 kilometers southeast of Jakarta; and in Singapore (Navigat Innovative International Pt. Ltd.). PT. Navigat's service workshop is located in Pulo Gadung, Jakarta, which allows the company to provide prompt, effective customer service throughout Indonesia.

Since March 2004, 12 Jenbacher engines have been ordered by Indonesian customers; three of them are already installed.
Due to the cancellation of state subsidies for diesel fuel, the demand for gas engines is growing rapidly. While fertilizer, petrochemical and power plants are already major natural gas consumers, overall industrial use is expected to grow as Indonesia further expands its gas-distribution infrastructure.

Through this agreement, GE Energy's gas engine business and PT. Navigat are effectively positioned to meet the demand for natural gas-burning engines as it develops.

Jenbacher engines have outputs of 0.25 to 3 megawatts and are equipped with patented combustion systems, engine controls and monitoring technology, allowing them to meet the strictest international emission standards while offering the highest levels of efficiency, durability and reliability.
Jenbacher engines can be used for on-site power purposes or to support the regional grid, offering customers greater flexibility -- an important feature of an improved national energy infrastructure.
