ALcontrol On-Site Services - On-Site Testing and Emissions Monitoring

ALcontrol On-Site Services are a trading division of ALcontrol Laboratories - one of the largest laboratory groups in Europe, with over 30 facilities offering analytical, on-site testing and inspection services. On-Site Services - Air undertakes carries out emission monitoring as part of its UK and Ireland testing business. Clients range from the fuel and power sector, chemicals, metals, incineration and landfill sectors through to work for public sector clients such as the environment agency, local authorities and the Environmental Protection Agency in Ireland.

All emission monitoring services are undertaken in accordance with the latest international and national standards, (CEN, ISO, BS EN, and USEPA) as detailed in the Environment Agency Technical Guidance Note M2 and are backed by an extensive UKAS / MCERTS accreditation.

As of 1st January 2008, a number of new CEN standards were formally introduced into EA TGN M2, these are CO (BS EN 15058), SO2 (BS EN 14791), O2 (BS EN 14789) NOx (BS EN 14792) and moisture (BS EN 14790). ALcontrol have been granted extension to scope by UKAS and are able to offer MCERTS accredited sampling to the new standards.

BS EN 14181 / QAL 2 AND AST ASSESSMENTS

ALcontrol have a dedicated professionally qualified team who conduct the BS EN 14181 monitoring. To comply with the standard, ALcontrol follow the same systematic approach at each site. The steps are as follows:

• Pre-project site visit
• Functional test witness audit
• On site sampling following standard reference methods
• Data handling and statistical analysis
• Submission of report including CEMS calibration function and tests of variability
• Recommendations on further action required for compliance

PROCESS EMISSION COMPLIANCE TESTING

ALcontrol are accredited under the MCERTS and UKAS performance standards to carry out a wide range of emission monitoring. The process emission monitoring can be on any process from any source i.e. chemical reactions, kilns, boilers, turbines, incinerators, landfill, gas engines etc. All subsequent sample analysis is completed by UKAS accredited laboratories.

COMMISSIONING / RESEARCH PROJECTS

During the commissioning of a new stack / process or research into a new fuel, ALcontrol can supply a monitoring team for the duration of the research/commissioning. The sampling team are capable of providing continuous on-line measurements using the latest the latest FTIR technology.

CEM BACK-UP / REPLACEMENT

If your on-line CEMs fail, ALcontrol can deploy one of its mobile laboratories at a moment's notice. This mobile laboratory will provide cover for the CEMs allowing you to continue to operate while the instruments are repaired.

AMBIENT AIR MONITORING

ALcontrol utilise the latest techniques and methods to monitor ambient air quality. The reasons for monitoring the ambient air range from a local authority acting on a public complaint or a persistent nuisance, or a company wanting to establish whether their processes are likely to have an environmental impact on the local area.

ALcontrol can supply an MCERTS qualified team leader to attend your site and explain how to improve your OMA score. ALcontrol are also happy to provide an MCERTS qualified team leader to attend your OMA meeting with the environment agency where necessary.
