Dekati is the global leading manufacturer of high-end PM instrumentation for combustion and flue gas cleaning device optimisation and development. Our measurement solutions can be applied to combustion units, from small to large scale, firing any liquid, solid or gaseous fuel.
Dekati® instruments are used to serve three main goals: to reduce plant operation costs, to reduce cleaning device R&D costs and to ensure compliance with future PM emission limits through optimisation and fuel effect testing.
Electrical Low Pressure Impactor + (ELPI+™) provides real time (10Hz) PM mass and number concentration in 14 size fractions from 0.006µm to 10µm, including PM0.1, PM0.5, PM1, PM2.5 and PM10. Measurement is based on aerodynamic sizing of particles with an impactor which is the ISO23210:2009 standardised method for stack PM measurements.
The ELPI+ instrument features a PM measurement range from a few nanograms to hundreds of grams per cubic metre, stand-alone operation, automated self-check features and multiple options for data output, including analog, digital and local storage. The instrument can also be controlled remotely via an Ethernet connection.
Dekati sample conditioning systems allow measurements with ELPI+ from any point in flue gas stacks at temperatures up to 1,000°C, thus allowing measurements also directly from combustion zone. Instruments are routinely used in challenging conditions; i.e. after scrubbers in flue gas stack or before/after turbines. Dekati sample conditioning systems are also suited for the measurement of condensable fraction by applying cooled dilution.
Power plant operating costs can be significantly reduced by improving flue gas cleaning equipment performance. This can be achieved through optimisation of baghouse, scrubber and ESP performance so that legislative PM limits are reached while service, water consumption and electricity costs are minimised.
The time needed in R&D of flue gas cleaning systems can be significantly reduced with Dekati instruments. Size resolved real-time measurement of PM penetration through cleaning systems allows engineers to quickly find optimal parameters for cleaning device operation.
In addition to the PM penetration studies ELPI+ is the only commercially available instrument that can measure size resolved ESP charging efficiency. This is important as the ESP charging efficiency measurement allows for separate research and development of ESP charging and collection efficiency.
ELPI+ can also be used effectively after flue gas cleaning system installation to verify cleaning device operation and to optimise the system to exactly suit the plant conditions.
ELPI+ is suited directly to fugitive dust / ambient PM measurements. In addition to the real-time PM measurements, the collected particulate matter can be subjected to size resolved chemical analysis, thus allowing detailed information of the source of the PM.
Dekati has more than 15 years of experience in providing full PM measurement systems for power plant industry and research communities. We can offer complete tailored PM measurement solutions for virtually any source. Please tell us your needs in the field of PM measurement and we will get in touch with you to discuss our solutions.
