Filtervac is a world leader in liquid filtration equipment. Established in 1983, the company was reorganised in 1990 and now manufactures a comprehensive line of filtration products.

The company manufactures oil filtration, purification and regeneration systems for various industries.

Filtration and purification solutions

The company designs, manufactures and supplies the following products:

  • High vacuum oil purifiers / degasifiers (on / off-line)
  • Ecoil transformer oil regeneration systems (on / off-line)
  • Low vacuum oil dehydrators
  • Turbine oil conditioners
  • Vacuum dry-out systems (on-line)
  • Conventional fuller’s earth filtration systems
  • PCB Decontamination
  • Tap changer filter system
  • Lube oil polishing systems (Base oil)
  • Diesel oil processing unit
  • Centrifuge modules
  • Portable filter carts
  • Thermal waste gas flares (Oxidizer)

Systems are built to fit our customers’ requirements, including skid-mounted, portable, and mobile, using utility trailers or semi-trailers and containerised models.

Filtervac’s ECoil Mobile Transformer Oil Regeneration System is used for on-site regeneration of insulating mineral oil.
The high vacuum transformer oil purifiers are used for transformer oil degasification, dehydration, filtration and optional de-acidification.
Filtervac’s vacuum dehydrator removes water, light hydrocarbons and solid contamination.
On-line tap changer systems remove carbon, water and metallic particles.
Waste motor oil polishing solutions use automated reactivation to process oil multiple times.

On-site regeneration of insulating mineral oil

Filtervac’s ECoil Mobile Transformer Oil Regeneration System (Model RS-M) has been designed for the on-site regeneration of insulating mineral oil on energised or de-energised transformers.

The system, which can also be used for tank regeneration, uses a unique blend of Fuller’s Earth clay. This is installed in skid-mounted columns, meaning the dirty oil is directed through the columns by forced percolation.

Contaminants, including acids and sludge, are removed from the oil, restoring its colour and oxidation stability. Onboard office partitions include lab equipment for oil testing.

A heater, degasser and particulate removing filters are also included in the ECoil system with selected vacuum booster for transformer dry-outs.

The system uses ECOIL clay, which is a non-hazardous material that can be reactivated for more than 300 times before it is saturated.

The system can be used to:

  • Reduce oil acidity
  • Improve oil colour
  • Improve oil interfacial tension
  • Remove corrosive sulfur from oil

The ECoil Transformer Oil Regeneration Plant regenerates used and deteriorated transformer oil to a specification that surpasses all ASTM and IEEE specifications / standards.

Transformers for oil degasification

Filtervac manufactures high vacuum transformer oil purifiers (Model VPH) for transformer oil degasification, dehydration, filtration and optional de-acidification.

The VPH model removes free and soluble water, free and dissolved gases and particulate matter.

It can also function with other electrical insulating liquids such as silicone fluids.

The standard Transformer Oil Purifier can be used for the following applications:

  • Processing oil in workshops
  • Storage tanks
  • Energised or de-energised transformers

Dehydration solutions for oils

Filtervac supplies a vacuum dehydrator, which removes water, light hydrocarbons and solid contamination.

This is a cost-effective solution and improves the service life of oil and machinery components. It can be used with a range of oils, including:

  • Lubrication oils
  • Gear oils
  • Hydraulic oils
  • Synthetic fluids
  • Turbine oils
  • Cable oils
  • Compressor oils
  • Quenching oils
  • Paper machine oils
  • Cutting mineral oils

On-line filtration systems

Filtervac manufactures on-line tap changer filtration systems to remove carbon, water and metallic particles in tap changers.

The system, which can be designed to meet customer-specific requirements and budgets, improves the reliability of the load tap changer and distribution transformer. It also reduces operation and maintenance costs.

Waste motor oil polishing solutions

Filtervac’s Ecoil System (OR-SRS) uses automated reactivation to process oil again and again, with the same clay.

Removed clay can be disposed of as a non-hazardous substance and used for building materials.

An Allen Bradley PLC programme provides continuous oil regeneration in transformers without interruptions to power transmission. A Windows-based SCADA with HMI touch-screen, or a laptop, is provided to run the process. Remote access ability is available and it is GSM enabled.

It is the best, most economical solution to polish used lube oil by improving colour, sulfur content, acidity, carbon and odour.
