Caterpillar Electric Power

Caterpillar Electric Power - Diesel and Gas-Powered Generator Sets, Switchgear, Uninterruptible Power Supply Systems and Rental Units

Caterpillar has been building engines and electric power systems for 70 years. Consistent performers in industry applications from healthcare, manufacturing and pharmaceutical to commercial, construction, mining, residential and telecommunications – all Cat® electric power systems are supported by the worldwide Cat dealer network.

As a leading power generation supplier, Caterpillar offers integrated power systems with a broad range of products, including a complete line of generator sets; containerized power modules; environmentally compliant gas-fueled systems; and heat recovery solutions and rental units to meet continuous or temporary needs. Cat generator sets can be customized with a wide range of attachments, components and performance options tailored to fit specific applications.

Generator sets

Cat generator sets have a proven reputation in a variety of electric power markets for delivering consistent performance, durability, reliability and economy in some of the world's most grueling conditions.

Diesel and gas-powered generator sets

Cat diesel generator sets, from 7kW to 16,200kW, and gas-powered generator sets, from 9kW to 6,000kW, are designed for thousands of hours of life before overhaul to deliver low owning and operating costs, outstanding serviceability and total reliability. Their diesel-fueled generator sets with ACERT® technology deliver emissions compliance without sacrificing performance.

Automatic transfer switch products

Caterpillar offers a broad range of automatic transfer switch products, with digital micro processor controls, to suit any application - from simple single-ATS installation to the highly complex multi-ATS / generator set switchgear system. Products include open and closed transition designs with optional bypass / isolation and delayed features in sizes from 40A to 4,000A.

From standby / load management to multiple-unit utility paralleling configurations, Cat switchgear provides a harmonized system solution by integrating elements of generator set function, control and monitoring in a single-source package. Available from 600V class through to 15kV, all Cat switchgear is UL and CSA-listed, and is IEEE 1547 compliant.

Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems for generator sets

The highly efficient Cat uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with flywheel-based technology works to support critical loads during the transition period from utility power to a standby generator set. In addition, the Cat UPS system uses stored flywheel energy, which is more reliable and less costly to operate than a conventional battery-based UPS system.

Remote monitoring and management for gensets

Connecting the power solution user and dealer to on-site equipment through an integrated system that includes hardware, communications technology and web-based software, PointGuard™ provides unique 24/7 remote monitoring and management solutions.

Rental power modules, switchgear and turbines

For temporary power needs, Cat rental power solutions range from 8kW units to 2MW power modules with utility grade switchgear, all the way up to 5.2MW turbines. All units are self-contained, mobile power solutions, housed in protective enclosures that incorporate sound attenuation and fuel containment. The units come complete and can be mounted on trailers for easy delivery and quick connection.
