Warid Telecom is a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi Group and Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel), and is the third largest mobile operator in Pakistan, achieving one-sixth market share over the last two years.
Telecom giant, SingTel acquired a 30% equity stake in Warid Telecom in 2007, marking a partnership that is part of a strategy to support Warid Telecom's continued growth and to enhance its market position.
Recognising Cummins Power Generation's established credentials and proven capabilities in the telecommunications industry, following the successful delivery of six generator sets to rival company Telenor Pakistan, Warid Telecom was keen to explore the business advantages that could be achieved by establishing a working relationship with the company.
Warid Telecom was particularly interested in sourcing generator set solutions that could deliver both standby and prime power even in the most difficult terrain. This is because it has installations in some of the most difficult environments in the country including high altitude and extreme weather conditions.
Given Cummins Power Generation's proven product reliability, even in the harshest conditions, Warid Telecom chose 300 Cummins Power Generation C33 D5 generator sets operating on 50Hz, to deliver 33kVA (standby) and 30kVA (prime) of power each.
The C33 D5 is a fully integrated power generation system, providing optimum performance, reliability and versatility for any application. It features the rugged four-cycle industrial 4B3.3 diesel engine, delivering reliable power, low emissions and fast response to load changes and comes with the power command electronic control as standard. This enables it to be controlled remotely with precise voltage regulation making it ideal for hard to reach installations.
