FG Wilson

Providing Power to Party

03 January 2003 15:13

Power for the BBC Radio One New Year's Eve party from Belfast City Hall at the end of 2002 was provided by a number of FG Wilson generating sets.

Two 250 kVA sets in super quiet 'twin pack' containers provided power for the main stage and lighting which included all the recording and broadcast equipment required by Radio One. Two XD27 sets from the company's 'Pro Range' were also placed in Belfast's Royal Avenue to provide power for the speaker columns. The gensets were supplied and installed by FG Wilson's dealer Hewden Specialist Event Services.

All the machines installed onsite operated continuously from 5am on New Year's Eve until 5 am on New Years Day. Hewden technicians were on-site throughout all the celebrations to provide back up support.

The dance party organised to ring in Belfast's New Year, attracted a crowd of over 20,000 and saw Radio One DJ's such as Sara Cox and Judge Jules broadcast live across the whole of the UK from a central stage outside Belfast's City Hall.
