GfPA Switzerland - Automation and Electrical Engineering for Power Plants

GfPA Switzerland has been providing automation and electrical equipment and services for the construction of new gas and combined cycle power plants, as well as maintenance and retrofit works for operating plants, for the past 18 years. We also provide services for gas liquefaction (oil and gas plants) and waste incineration plants.

We cover the entire spectrum of project activities, from the initial conceptual design to turnover to the operators. We provide support to our clients at any stage of a project.

As a certified Gold Partner and system integrator for ABB Control Systems, we have excellent familiarity with the company's systems. In addition, we are a certified system integrator for HIMA.

Power plant control system supply, support and engineering

In the field of plant control systems, we have excellent knowledge of the various ABB control systems, ranging from the old Decontics to the latest 800xA.

We typically perform conceptual and detail engineering; hardware selection and procurement; application software programming; testing (in the shop and on-site); the supply of complete control systems, including instrumentation, CPUs, HMI, information management, safety systems, etc.; worldwide start-up support; and simulator engineering.

Power plant electrical systems, consulting and grid studies

We supply a range of electrical systems for power plants, including low-voltage distribution and protection systems. We also offer engineering, consulting services and dynamic grid studies.

Power plant start-up and operational support

In recent years we have expanded our crew with several excellent process engineers who are familiar with the gas turbine process and its control, as well as the various auxiliary systems of thermal power plants.

Combining this knowledge with our traditional strength in control and instrumentation (C&I), as well as giving our engineers the time and opportunity to develop new approaches to solve known shortcomings in existing plants, has yielded some very positive results for our customers.

We can offer our customers very effective support for their gas turbine and combined cycle power plants, including start-up, optimisation of operation, outages and troubleshooting.

Power plant functional safety services

We also offer functional safety services, consisting of expert safety consultancy, plant safety concepts, the provision and detailed design of project-specific configured safety systems and the programming of protection systems.

We perform a range of electrical engineering tasks, including grid analysis, conceptual engineering, detail design, procurement, worldwide start-up support, project management and consulting.
