Turbomach SA was awarded a contract from Ningxia Hanas Thermal Power Company to supply one Trent gas turbine generator package for the combined cycle power plant to be built in Yinchuan by China Huadian Engineering Company.

This project represents for Turbomach the first reference in China and, hopefully, will constitute an example for decentralized power generation in China: the need for new, clean and efficient power plants in China, the conversion from coal to gas of some of the smaller existing plants, the construction of the West East pipeline and LNG stations in the eastern part of the country, are drivers for the construction of power plants similar to the Yinchuan plant. In fact the power plant that Hanas is constructing will, due to the high overall efficiency, consume a minimum of fuel: this, together with the low emission combustion system, will minimise the impact on the environment.

The selected power generation equipment is based on the state of the art, high efficient Trent 60 DLE gas turbine from Rolls-Royce. This gas turbine is the largest aeroderivative gas turbine available today and has the best efficiency in this power range: delivering up to 58MW of electrical power at 42% efficiency, it has established a new benchmark for fuel economy and cost savings.

Since 1979, Turbomach SA, based in Riazzino in the southern part of Switzerland, has become a well-established name in the field of gas turbines for power generation and combined heat and power schemes for industrial applications. The principal business activities of the company are the design, the engineering, the production and the installation of gas turbine generator package, gas turbine based cogeneration facilities, combined cycle power plants, and heat recovery refrigeration/heating installations.

Turbomach's packaging philosophy is based on high quality standards in order to reach two major targets: maximum flexibility to meet the individual customer's requirements, and high availability and reliability for long-term economic operation. Experience gained on a steadily increasing number of units - there are today more than 800 installations over 25 countries - and various turbine types, as well as continuous improvements have been incorporated into the design to provide better performance, lower emission, greater flexibility and higher reliability.

Turbomach's partner Rolls-Royce and its parent company Caterpillar and Solar Turbines are present in China for many years and are cooperating with Chinese corporations in various industries and are having local support and production facilities.
