13 May 2005 09:55

Turgi, Switzerland, April 21, 2005 - ABB Switzerland Ltd launches a new Excitation Control Terminal, empowering operation, control and maintenance of the UNITROL® 5000 excitation systems.

The Excitation Control Terminal (ECT) is a powerful industrial PC with a user friendly Human Machine Interface (HMI) that runs independently from the control CPUs. The ECT can be added to an UNITROL 5000 excitation system to support the operating and maintenance staff. The terminal can be located at the excitation system as a door panel for local control and/or in the control room.

A 15" LCD touch screen provides the operator with a range of selectable screens showing information about the current status of the system in graphical and numerical form. Additionally, authorized engineers can read and adjust all parameter values.

Further, analyses tools for troubleshooting, long time recordings and auto save functions are available as well. Important data are stored on the ECT and are available to be shown on the LCD or for downloading for further investigation. In order to protect the system against wrong manipulation from unauthorized persons, different password protected access levels can be defined.

ABB Switzerland Ltd in Turgi, Switzerland, is the worldwide Center of Excellence for Excitation and Synchronizing Systems, has decades of experience in controlling synchronous machines, and is the worldwide market leader in large Static Excitation Systems.
