Motors, variable speed drive and SCADA systems

Converteam supplies the utility generation (thermal, hydroelectric and nuclear power station) with motors and variable speed drive systems for boiler feed and cooling water pumps, fans and draughts, excitation systems and static frequency converters for the starting of turbine generators.

Converteam has extensive experience in providing supervisory SCADA systems for utility networks, including the supervision of HVDC schemes.

Alternators for gas and steam turbines

Converteam is a leading supplier of high specification alternators for gas and steam turbine applications in the industrial and combined heat and power market.

Renewable energy power-conversion systems

Converteam is a major supplier to the wind industry with more than 5GW of low-voltage and medium-voltage power conversion systems delivered annually. With wind turbine makers now turning to direct drive systems, Converteam’s patented direct-drive permanent-magnet wind generator will play a key role for both onshore and offshore applications, strengthening our leading position in the wind energy market.

Tidal and wave power generators

Since the early 2000s, Converteam has been involved in both the tidal and wave power generation. Our unique compact induction generator (CIG) is ideally suited to the subsea environment and our patented permanent magnet linear generator technology makes direct power generation from waves economically viable. To provide integrated and economical solutions, we have also tackled the challenge of farm design and offshore-onshore grid connections.

Solar power conversion technology

Drawing on our extensive wind and grid connection expertise, we have developed specific solar power conversion solutions. These are built around a core, low-voltage, modular two-level or three-level topology inverter technology offering multiple possibilities to configure the PV arrays with maximum performances.

Customized solar systems design, installation and commissioning

Converteam can provide customized solar solutions, from the design to installation and commissioning. These solutions are used from the inverters to the remote monitoring systems, which offer maximum reliability and overall system efficiency.
