The company designs and manufactures steam turbines, API 618 reciprocating gas compressors, gas engine based CHP systems and a wide range of special purpose machinery and supports them with an international spares and service organisation. Peter Brotherhood was established in 1867 and over the years has exported and installed equipment in more than 100 countries around the world.

STEAM TURBINES

Peter Brotherhood Ltd specialises in the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of steam turbines with power outputs from 1mW to 40mW. They are integrated with generators and other driven equipment from world-leading suppliers.

The company has been designing and manufacturing steam turbines for more than 100 years and has considerable experience in steam turbine systems for combined cycle and cogeneration, district heating, industrial processes, sugar mills, oil and gas production, refineries, petrochemical plants, FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading) vessels, waste heat recovery, marine and waste-to-energy.

The company has an extensive reference list of steam turbine sets for renewable and sustainable energy applications with in excess of 1,000mW of installed power in this field.

In the vast majority of these applications, the prime requirements are high reliability, low maintenance, efficient performance and a rapid return on capital investment.

All steam turbines manufactured by Peter Brotherhood are subjected to rigorous functional test in the factory before despatch. The testing of the turbine, complete with its control panels ensures that all monitoring and safety systems are proved to function correctly.

STEAM TURBINES FOR FPSO VESSELS

Peter Brotherhood Ltd is the world's leading manufacturer of steam turbines for FPSO vessels and has supplied equipment to many of the world's leading FPSO vessel operators including Woodside, Single Buoy Moorings (SBM), Bergesen, Aker Floating Production, Saipem and Fred. Olsen Production.

Peter Brotherhood has recently delivered two 27mW condensing steam turbine driven generator sets for Fred. Olsen Production. These two machines are the largest steam turbine driven generator sets installed on an FPSO vessel. They are installed on the Knock Allan FPSO vessel which will be moored off the coast of Gabon.

STEAM TURBINES FOR THE SUGAR INDUSTRY

Peter Brotherhood has been supplying steam turbines to sugar mills all over the world for more than 50 years. In 2005, the company delivered, installed and commissioned a 25.5mW extraction condensing steam turbine to Ergon Energy for the Isis Central Sugar Mill in Childers, Queensland. The steam turbine uses steam raised from burning bagasse (the waste product that remains after processing sugar cane) to generate the mill's electrical power and the exhaust steam is used in the sugar refining process.

STEAM TURBINES FOR OLIVE MILLING WASTE (OMW)

In 2004 Econoler S.A. placed an order with Peter Brotherhood to design and manufacture an 8mW condensing steam turbine for an olive waste fired power plant in Cabra, near Córdoba, Southern Spain. The turbine is used to supply the mill’s steam requirements and the electricity generated will be sold to the Spanish grid.

Peter Brotherhood's large, modern, purpose-built plant with first class design and manufacturing facilities combined with a highly skilled workforce allows the company to offer high quality services. These same high quality services can be found in our engineering services department. The company's experience extends from re-design, repair and refurbishment through to installation, commissioning and planned maintenance of a wide range of rotating equipment.

A dedicated Service Centre was established last year to service, repair and refurbish reciprocating and rotating machinery manufactured by Peter Brotherhood as well as other companies.
