New Apprentices Join Peter Brotherhood

Successful Peterborough, UK-based engineering company Peter Brotherhood Ltd has taken on seven new apprentices to help support its growing business and to invest in developing the specialist skills needed by the company in the future.
Chris Davies, Andrew Elliot, Shaun Elsey, Sam Gray, Chris Maher, George Sumner-Andrews and Mark Yeoman joined the company in September 2007. Following a comprehensive induction process at Peter Brotherhood's factory and offices in Werrington, Peterborough, the new recruits began their training programme at Peterborough Regional College. They will be undertaking a 36-week block release engineering foundation course covering milling, turning, fabrication, fitting and electrics.
Sue Harvey, human resources officer for Peter Brotherhood said: "The company recognises the need to invest in people to secure the future of the business. We had a record number of applicants this year which made the selection process a lot harder."
Thirty applicants, along with their parents, were selected to attend an open day back in May. During the visit the applicants sat an assessment test and had a guided tour of the factory and offices. From the results of the assessment test twelve candidates were called in for interviews before the final seven were chosen.
The company has invested in apprentices for many years and currently has 15 people working through the apprentice programme and four completing their apprenticeships this year.
