Clearcut standards for wind power high access systems have yet to be determined and currently vary from state-to-state throughout the US. Compared with Europe, wind power is still a relatively new industry in the USA and the process of establishing standard national regulations is still in the early stages.

In an effort to stay on the leading edge in safety regulations and guidelines, GORACON is the first high access solutions provider to have their equipment tested for safety by a nationally recognised test laboratory (NRTL). GORACON Windpower Access Systems designs and manufactures high access climbing assistance equipment such as ladder climbers, lifts and platforms.

In January 2009, GORACON received its US NRTL certificate from TÜV Rheinland of North America for two ladder climber models; the GKS and the GKM. TÜV is known throughout the world as a leading certification institute. GORACON also meets all European machine guidelines, including EN 1808 and 98/37/CE.

For US certification, TÜV tested the products against UL guidelines according to the US 1340:2004 R5, 08 regulations. This US NRTL certificate underlines the focus and commitment of GORACON on safety, liability and accountability, all of which are part of the important core values of the company. GORACON plans to continue this practice until all equipment has the appropriate certification.
