Multi-Contact’s Eric Ast has been elected the new president of the International Photovoltaic Equipment Association (IPVEA).

The news was announced during the AGM of the Intersolar Europe 2014 in Munich, Germany. Ast, Multi-Contact’s Global Business development manager of photovoltaics, replaces Sven E. Jarby from Oerlikon.

Ast thanked past board members for their leadership and endurance during difficult times, and added that their vision was ‘the foundation for more growth and new opportunities for the IPVEA members’.

The IPVEA was established in May 2008 as an independent, non-profit organisation. Their aim is to promote a path of cooperation and mutual support to achieve proactive solutions between all sectors within the upstream photovoltaic (PV) power generation and battery storage technology value chain.

The IPVEA includes machine and equipment manufacturers, producers of raw materials for the production of PV ingots, wafers and cells, as well as module and component manufacturers.
