GIS AND OIL-FILLED EQUIPMENT SAFETY

In order to ensure optimum performance and safety of GIS and oil-filled equipment, whilst complying with growing environmental legislative demands, e.g. EC842/2006, traceable, accurate measurements are now essential.

A1-envirotech’s "Predicta" range of condition-monitoring equipment has been specifically designed to measure the key parameters associated with sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) gas testing and transformer oil analysis in order to satisfy all the industry's requirements.

SF6 GAS TESTING

SF6 gas, whilst inert, can breakdown under severe arcing conditions, dramatically affecting its dielectric properties and performance as an insulating medium. The presence of moisture or air can accelerate this process, causing the formation of highly corrosive and toxic, acidic breakdown-products.

In order to ascertain true condition-monitoring of GIS equipment, the predicta-MP1000 measures four-key parameters during one analysis: dew point, SF6 purity, acidity and oxygen. This portable instrument offers full data-logging, with minimal gas usage, ensuring fast, accurate SF6 gas testing.

GREENHOUSE GAS HANDLING AND MONITORING

The Global Warming Potential (GWP) of SF6 gas is 22,200 i.e. SF6 gas is 22,200 times more effective as a greenhouse gas than CO. Therefore it is essential that all aspects of SF6 use, handling and monitoring are strictly controlled.

Increasing environmental legislation states: operators of SF6-filled systems now have a range of obligations including, controlled use of SF6 gas, prompt leak-repair, leak checking, and record-keeping, by qualified personnel.

The MF1000 is a fully automatic, portable SF6 mass-flow controller allowing traceable, accurate measurement of the use of SF6 gas during "Fill" or "Top-Up" operations. Operation is fully automatic, just set the parameters press "GO" and the unit will fill the plant equipment with the correct amount of gas at the required pressure, before shutting-down.

TRANSFORMER OIL ANALYSIS - OM1000, OA1000

Regular condition-monitoring of key parameters within transformer oil, ensures the optimum performance and safety of transformers is controlled and their life-span enhanced.

The OM1000P - moisture meter is a fully portable Karl Fischer titrator, allowing trace-level measurement down to 1ppm moisture in oil. Simple one-button operation enables accurate field-based measurements within one to two minutes. Supplied within a portable workstation, this instrument is the industry standard for robust, reliable moisture results.

The OA1000 - acidity meter enables trace level measurement of total acidity-in-oil down to 0.01mg/g KOH. Utilising the industry standard method of analysis, this instrument offers the ultimate in accuracy and repeatability, with data storage ensuring traceable performance.

CORROSIVE SULPHUR TESTING

Corrosive sulphur testing - of transformer oil is becoming a major global issue. The need to monitor potentially hazardous sulphur compounds in order to protect transformers operating at increased loading and temperatures is now vital. A1-envirotech now offer a simple field test-kit for measuring corrosive sulphur on both copper and copper/paper methodologies.

SF6 TESTING, SF6 LEAK DETECTOR, TRANSFORMER OIL TESTING AND TECHNICAL SEMINARS

SF6 testing: to compliment our Multi-parameter (MP1000) instrument we also offer single parameter units for purity (SF6-1000), dew point (PDM1000), acidity (HF1000) and trace oxygen (OX1000).

SF6 leak detector - we supply an SF6 specific portable leak detector, the P1-P, which can pin-point SF6 gas leaks and quantify the leak rate. Using negative-ion capture technology, this instrument is a leader in its field.

Transformer oil testing - to improve oil sampling we supply a purpose-designed oil sampling pump, (OSP1000) utilising industry standard oil sample bottles.

Technical seminars - we conduct regular seminars at our Luton technical centre as well as various venues around the world. Many have been attended by many of the industry's most influential members.
