ABB's generator protection REG670 now features an advanced 100% stator earth-fault protection based on injection principle. The new protection function enables injection via neutral point VT or even via open-delta VT located at the generator terminals. This allows very cost-efficient design of the injection unit, and enables very easy and fast commissioning of the protection system since no changes need to be made in the primary circuit. The operation of this new feature has already been verified in a challenging in pump storage hydro electric power plant with two units each rated at 315MVA.
