Distribution Automation expands the portfolio for feeder automation solutions with the release of wireless controllers and wireless gateways. With this expansion ABB is now also able to offer compact and modern monitoring, control and communication solutions for retrofits and new installations.
These products are used in disconnector and distribution transformer applications in distribution networks. They improve the quality of power distribution by reducing the outage times in the distribution networks. They also reduce the capital expenditures in the distribution network by optimising the asset management of existing installed base and contribute to more direct cost savings by facilitating preventative maintenance.
The Wireless Gateways can be used in most feeder automation and secondary distribution applications utilized by utilities to automate their distribution networks in cooperation with ABB protection relays or RTUs.
