PPC Insulators announces Insulator Manufacturing Plant in Thailand – PPC Asian Insulators Co., Ltd.
I am very pleased to announce a Joint Venture between PPC Insulators and Asian Insulators for a new factory in Singburi Thailand.
The plant will be built during the next 12 months to produce low to medium voltage insulators to both IEC and ANSI standards. The products will start to be delivered at the start of 2005. The sales will be exclusively by PPC sales organization outside of Thailand, Burma, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam and by Asian Insulators within these countries.
Mr Kovit Thareratanavibool is appointed Managing Director of the factory with Mr. Anders Svensson as Chairman. Also on the board will be Mr. Thanit Thareratanavibool, Mr. Narong Thareratanavibool, Mr. Ivan Kosalko, Mr. Werner Wippel and Mr. Maurice Murphy.
The Venture is owned 60% by PPC through its Porzellanfabrik Frauenthal Insulators GmbH subsidiary and 40% by Asian Insulators. Asian Insulators is a highly respected and already the largest manufacturer of low and medium voltage Insulators in South East Asia. This new Greenfield factory will be built with the latest technology and will be focused on IEC and ANSI products not currently in the Asian Insulators product range.
The plant will employ approximately 200 people and produce about 3000 tons of products during its first year with space for further expansion as required.
This continues PPC Insulators core strategy of investing in competitive manufacturing opportunities and differentiating our product offering to customers to make us the supplier of choice. It provides Asian Insulators with the opportunity to achieve their objective of manufacturing Insulators to fulfill a global need.
