Our main business is to supply fire and blast-resistant systems in the power, chemical, refining, industrial, institutional and data storage sectors from coast to coast, or any location in the world. Much of our experience has been in the field of electrical transformer fire and blast protection for existing back fit and new sites. Our systems are designed to limit the space required to provide effective protection from catastrophic transformer detonations, which otherwise could spread burning oil and subsequent fire to adjacent transformers or other essential equipment and facilities.
When required, we survey each project site to determine many existing physical aspects to determine how to provide the most comprehensive protection schemes including oil collection and retention in the affected area. Of course, we get involved in many other types of engineered protection resolutions.
Our modular fire and blast barrier systems (MFBBS) are prefabricated and modular for easy and quick erection and removal, if necessary, and utilize the excellent and proven qualities of Kemwell FBI fire and blast-resistant board as the barrier medium.
The MFBBS conforms to ASTM E-119 fire integrity requirements. Impact and projectile testing has proven that our systems will withstand the affects of shrapnel that may accompany a detonation caused by a transformer failure.
Our fire-resistant systems include:
We offer a wide range of fire and blast-resistant barriers, doors, enclosures and ducting. Our products in this area include:
Our range of electrical circuitry passive envelope protection systems encompasses:
Our fire and blast protection systems are suitable for a huge range of applications. In the power generation sector they are used in combined cycle gas turbine plants, co-generation plants, hydro plants, substations, and nuclear and fossil fuel applications.
Our fire and blast protection systems are also used in the hydrocarbons, commercial, industrial, military, and transportation infrastructure industries.
Critical Systems offers complete project management, including turnkey services, in order to service the customer's specific requirements. Working as a prime contractor with our experienced engineering and project management staff, we can assume turnkey responsibility for all phases of a project - from the design / engineering of all systems associated with the project, including civil / structural, fire protection, instrumentation / controls, engineered lift / rigging plans and site safety. Software resources include:
Critical Systems employs 25 full-time engineers / designers working from our LaGrange, Kentucky, Wixom, Michigan and various staffed satellite offices. We have priority status agreements with several engineering firms to provide additional industry trained engineers and designers during cyclical peak periods. Engineering software applications utilized:
Critical Systems is proud to announce our quality management system has been certified to the ISO 9001:2000 quality standard. Our quality system encompasses our entire operation, providing a quality driven cycle of continuous improvement to ensure you receive quality equipment, installed on schedule and within budget every time.
Critical Systems employs a system of quality checks at every stage of the manufacturing process from engineering and design to final product inspection and installation. Following the Demming quality management model, Critical Systems utilizes a multi-point quality checklist specific to each modular unit. The checklist accompanies the unit as it passes through each phase of production. Only when all items are satisfactory will the unit be advanced to the next phase.
