Belgium: Renovation of the Three Nuclear Power Plant Simulators

20 January 2008 15:18

ELECTRABEL had entrusted us with the renovation its three full-scale training simulators for training control operators for the Doel and Tihange nuclear power plants. The main purpose is to ensure that these means of training will last by migration into a PC Windows environment.

In collaboration with TRACTEBEL Engineering we used the ALICES simulation workshop which, by its effective and open design, makes it possible to optimise the migration costs dramatically.

The first project phase, which is planned to last 10 months, has been dedicated to fine-tuning procedures and migration tools needed for industrial use and control of the different elements of the three simulators. Over the summer of 2007, all these procedures and tools were applied to one of the systems and successfully confirmed. The teams are now working on carrying the first of the three simulators to be delivered in September 2008, after 2 months of on-site testing.
