General Physics Awarded Key International Energy Sector Contracts

Global performance improvement solutions provider General Physics Corporation (GP), a subsidiary of GP Strategies Corporation, has recently been awarded contracts valued at more than $3m to provide training and technical support services to power industry clients in Africa, the Middle East, South America, and Asia.

The largest of these awards is from TAQA New World at the Jorf Lasfar Coal-Fired Power Plant in Morocco, where GP will provide operations training support in both French and English. In South America, Waller Marine has contracted with GP to provide training material development and instruction (in both English and Spanish) for its portable/floating gas turbine plant in Venezuela. In South Korea, the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Company (KHNP) has partnered with GP to provide web-based training content and technical support for the next seven years. In the Middle Eastern and African countries of Oman and Tanzania, Suez-Tractebel Operations and Maintenance Oman (STOMO) and Songas (Ubungo Power Plant), respectively, have each recently contracted GP to develop customized web-based training programs.

Mr Joe Nasal, senior vice president for GP Energy Services, commented: "These recent awards are indicative of how global our business has become; we are approaching a point where 50% or more of our Energy Services business will be international.
