Global performance improvement solutions provider General Physics Corporation (GP), the operating subsidiary of GP Strategies Corporation, has announced that it has formalized a strategic alliance with INERCO (Seville, Spain), a leading European technology company, to provide North American-based power and refining facilities with advanced combustion control technologies to optimize fuel costs and further reduce NOx and greenhouse gases.

The synergistic combination of INERCO's ABACO™ Combustion Optimization technologies with GP's EtaPRO™ Performance and Condition Monitoring System provides for tighter control of the combustion process with real-time efficiency and environmental performance feedback. Joe Nasal, senior vice president of Energy Services at GP, noted, "GP is driven to help power and refining companies further reduce greenhouse gases and other boiler emissions through new technologies. By combining newly developed EtaPRO Advanced Pattern Recognition (APR) technologies with INERCO's combustion optimization technologies, which until now have not been available in North America, our customers will be able to more precisely control the combustion process throughout the unit's operating range. This new capability will provide real-time measurements of key process variables to enable operators to maximize combustion efficiency and minimize emissions through a combination of the best available technologies in the world."

Francisco Rodríguez, Industrial Processes Division manager at INERCO, stated, "The real-time integration of ABACO and EtaPRO APR will help our customers in the power sector fully leverage revenue opportunities with minimization of fuel costs and greenhouse emissions; for the case of coal-fired units, it will also optimize fly ash sales. Fuel is the largest cost for power-generating companies; by controlling the combustion process in boilers, millions of dollars in annualized savings can be realized. Our partnership with GP will offer a unique combination of technologies to provide additional value to existing EtaPRO System users along with a rapid ROI for power plant owners. INERCO's technologies are applicable to any boiler (coal, oil, biomass or gas fired units) in the power sector, as well as boilers and furnaces in refineries."
