Solvina - Power Plant Control Training, Test and Optimization Simulators

Training and simulation can be used to minimize the start-up time, improve an operator's understanding of the process and optimize the plant operating procedures. As a result immense costs can be saved. Solvina's simulators and training programmes are used throughout the entire project from control design to commissioning of new steam nets, turbines, generators and control systems. Our power plant simulation and test facilities include the island operation test, a realtime simulator, dynamic simulation and control design.

REAL-TIME SIMULATORS FOR CONTROL DESIGN

Solvina develops simulators for control design and plant optimization for the electrical power industry and the process industry. Solvina's tailor-made interactive simulators have been used in a variety of purposes. All giving the client easy to use, tailor-made interactive simulators for training and control system optimization.

SolvSim® Steam Net Simulators have successfully been used at development, design, training and commission of new control systems for pulp and paper mill steam nets. At start-up no steam net failures or operator errors occurred and start-up time was minimized thanks to rigorous verification, tuning and training on the new control system using Solvina's training simulators.

SolvSim® Power Trainer is used to prepare power network and power station operators for severe operating conditions. It is a custom-made simulator and has been used for training purposes and operation procedure optimization. In a control room similar environment the trainees are being exposed to power system failures applied to the simulated power net by the training leader.

SolvSim® Steam Power is Solvina's dynamic simulator of nuclear power plants. The most common software tool used is Modelica / Dymola. Solvina's nuclear simulators are used in control design and tuning, assessment of dynamic capacities, transient analyses, decision tool for plant or system design and review of safety analyses.

REAL-TIME SIMULATOR FOR ISLAND OPERATION TESTING AND GOVERNOR TUNING

Solvina offers a unique simulator-based test equipment, SolvSim® Power Station, and corresponding services to test the island operation capability in a realistic way. The tests are performed with the machine in synchronized mode.

For many power plants and in particular industries with their own power generation, electrical island operation of the industry, disconnected from the electrical power grid, can be of great importance in order to avoid power outage or voltage disturbances from the main grid.

In addition we develop black start strategies and perform tuning of the governor frequency controller.

OPERATOR TRAINING SIMULATORS

Solvina run courses in power plant control and island operation and the courses range from education of control-room operators to advanced courses in power systems engineering. Simulators are used in the courses in order to improve the understanding of plant and system dynamics.

Solvina also offers stand-alone customized interactive training simulators for improved understanding of both the underlying physics of the processes and the plant-specific electrical power or steam net.
