Training of Power Grid Operators Using the Simulator System ARISTO

Solvina has recently been engaged to train power grid operators to act correctly if the power grid is subject to severe disturbances or in worst case a total blackout is the fact.

The real time simulator system ARISTO has been used for simulation of the power system. ARISTO is developed by Svenska Kraftnät, the owner and operator of the Swedish national electricity grid, and is used both for for training and analysis. The simulator ARISTO is unique as transient stability is simulated continuously at real-time speed. Therefore, the ARISTO system makes it possible to arrange for training similar to real situation. The training has been appreciated both by operators and engineers as it makes it possible to train and prepare for severe disturbances that are fortunately rare occurences. Nevertheless it will be important for the operators to do the correct maneuvers if they occur.
