A power system simulator has been delivered to the pulp mill Södra Cell Morrum. This simulator shows the power system dynamics and control of the mill.
The simulator is developed to educate the operators in how to operate the mill in island operation mode. It also aids their understanding of the basics of power system dynamics.
The simulator is an interactive, real time simulator, which is provided with an interface similar to the actual operation and supervision system used at the mill. This specially developed interface ensures that the simulator is suitable for operator training and makes the operators feel comfortable with the simulator as soon as they start the software.
The operators can hone their ability to control the mill, not only in normal operation mode, but especially in island operation mode. This ensures that in a real island operation situation, the operators are familiar with and know how to operate the mill.
The training has been successful and the personnel of the mill have shown that they are capable of handling island operation.
