RDE wins multiple upgrade contracts for power station simulators

Rheinmetall Defence Electronics GmbH (RDE) has been awarded contracts to update and modernize Training Simula-tors for the Kapar 300 MW coal fired power station of the Ma-laysian utility Tenaga Nasional Bhd. and for the 600MW coal fired Matimba power station of South African’s utility Eskom. The contract values exceed 3Mio US$.

For the Kapar training simulator RDE will provide a new instruc-tor station and replace the existing Gould simulation computers with a Windows based PC platform. Furthermore the stimulated Bailey N90 control system will be replaced with a high fidelity simulated software model, which will be generated through automated code generators. In addition the panel will be refur-bished and a new I/0 system will be installed.

For the Matimba training simulator the Concurrent simulation computers as well as the instructor station will be replaced by a modern Windows based PC platform. A highlight of the project is a high fidelity emulation of the Siemens display system OM650 and a connection to the existing I/O-system. The proj-ect schedule will be 12 month and 11 month respectively.
