AxEnergy - Combustion Turbine Inlet Air Cooling SystemDrawing on over 50 years experience in fogging and atomization technologies, AxEnergy supplies CT FOG combustion turbine inlet air cooling systems to the power augmentation market. By controlling inlet air temperature, our fogging systems ultimately ensure increased gas turbine output by restoring lost power and reducing heat rate. Inlet cooling enhances the mass flow through the turbine, increasing the pressure ratio and reducing the amount of compression required. AxEnergy also provides clients with advice on plant equipment / operational specifications, site-specific and long-term average hourly weather data. We also specialize in information for equipment sizing, operating hours and ROI calculations. CT FOG SYSTEM - INLET AIR COOLING AND FOGGING EQUIPMENTThe CT FOG system is essentially an air-cooling unit that can be installed in front of the gas turbine inlet to increase power output. The system is most effective around midday when ambient temperature is at its height and electrical demand is greatest. This combination of factors often minimizes the generating capacity of a gas turbine. However, the CT FOG System helps to boost energy production and reduce output shortfall by artificially cooling the turbine. Once it has been fed with meteorological grade data from a weather station, the system calculates the precise volume of water required for fogging. The system is programmed to take into account maximum temperature and minimum humidity, as well as climatic design parameters and other plant-specific data. SWIRL PRESSURE NOZZLE FOR DROPLET SIZE CONTROLDroplet size is an important indicator of fogging system performance. Only a droplet that evaporates completely will provide the full potential cooling effect and therefore the maximum increase in output. Total evaporation will not occur if the droplets are too large. This can also result in a restriction of the compressor blades, causing erosion to develop. Effective droplet analysis is ensured thanks to the CT FOG system's new patented swirl pressure nozzle. The nozzle provides a water droplet spectrum with a characteristic diameter in the range of 20µ, measured with a Malvern Laser Diffraction System on the Dv 0.9 scale. The swirl pressure nozzle has a ceramic insert with tangential water inlets that helps to maintain droplet characteristics over a long service life. GT-MASTER AND THERMOFLOW GT-PRO EVALUATIONAxEnergy is equipped with 3rd party simulation software for accurate system modeling. We can simulate the CT-FOG system's technical performance and economic benefits to the client in site-specific scenarios. AxEnergy's engineers can provide a one year simulation that demonstrates the expected ROI, based on plant operating characteristics and weather data. The payback is often less than a year. Our highly skilled engineers will always choose the most cost-effective solution for your application from the CT-P (peak load) or the CT-B (base load) product families.
