Liverpool, NY - Young & Franklin has announced that their new 8591 Series Differential Pressure Sensing Pilot Valves will be used on M&J Valve Company's patented DANFLO® liquid pipeline surge relief skids. Young & Franklin is known for designing and delivering specialty actuation products for the power generation industry. The 8591 Series highlights the company's entry into the pipeline controls market.
Y&F's 8591 Series Differential Pressure Sensing Pilot Valves are used for surge control, rate-of-flow and minimum differential pressure applications. Currently available in 10 and 75 GPM models, the 8591 Series Differential Pressure Sensing Pilot Valves are rated for up to 600 psi service. A rolling diaphragm design delivers greater sensitivity to pressure changes in the pipeline. Pressure settings are field adjustable.
M&J Valve Company, a division of SPX Process Equipment, is using four 12" 300#, 8591-piloted control valves per skid. M&J Valve surge relief skids are to be used for a new seawater injection plant pipeline installation in the Middle East. The 8591 Series Differential Pressure Sensing Pilot Valves will be critical in protecting pipeline from surges due to the pump tripping upon electrical power loss.
The DANFLO surge relief skid is designed for primary rate-of-rise and secondary fixed set point control. Pipeline pressure exceeding either the rate-of-change or a fixed pressure set point (as set on the Y&F pilot valve) causes the surge-relief valve to open. M&J's skid offers continual pipeline protection from the build-up of pressure surges. No outside power is required to pilot the control valves.
The new 8591 Series Differential Pressure Sensing Pilot Valve designs showcase Y&F's engineering versatility and response to customer needs. "Young & Franklin provided value-added engineering solutions to M&J Valve," says Ron Kennedy, M&J Valve's DANFLO Sales Manager. "These differential pilots required precise engineering expertise. Young & Franklin was very responsive, creating designs - from scratch - that more than met our needs."
Y&F's piston-actuated 8591 Series Pressure Reducing Pilot Valves have been in operation since 2000. Companies such as Aramco, Sinopec (China National Petroleum Corp) and Petrobras have successfully employed over 100 Y&F 8591-piloted M&J control valves worldwide for pressure reduction, back pressure and pressure relief operation on their pipelines.
