International Energy Outlook 2009

03 March 2010

The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) presents a forecast of global energy use through to 2030.

The EIA projects a 44% increase in world marketed energy consumption from 2006 to 2030 and anticipates a 73% increase in total energy demand by organisation for economic cooperation and development (OECD) countries.

The report provides international and regional projections for energy consumption by fuel type including liquids, natural gas and coal, and also by type of sector including the industrial and transportation sectors that are the largest consumers of energy.

EIA discusses projections for world electricity markets including nuclear power, hydropower and other commercial renewable energy resources, and takes into consideration carbon emissions relative to the energy use.
