The Economics of Transition in the Power Sector
18 March 2010Power is one of the sectors most affected by the need to reduce CO2 emissions and address climate change. The reductions for the sector can only happen when existing plants are either refurbished or replaced with more-efficient and lower-emitting types in future.
The International Energy Agency looks at the investments needed in the power sector for the transition to a low-carbon infrastructure in the light of related risks in a macro and microeconomic analysis.
The report explores the refurbishment and replacement of plants based on fuel type, age and region, and examines value of waiting that arises from uncertain future prices.
