21 January 2010This white paper sets out the government’s view that nuclear should be part of the UK’s low-carbon energy mix and that companies should have the option of building new nuclear power stations.
When it comes to the challenges of climate change and security of energy supply, the UK Government says it believes that nuclear is an important part of the country's energy policy, alongside reducing energy use, increasing renewables and investing in new energy technologies. This paper followed a public consultation on the future of nuclear power in the UK.
