Climate Change Policy – Time for Plan B

28 June 2011

UK-based charity Policy Exchange has drafted a new report urging Europe to focus on implementing low-cost green technologies to mitigate carbon emissions in line with its 2020 emissions reduction target.

The report stresses that the European climate policy approach must be made accessible to be adopted by other nations, such as China and the US.

It also recommends that the EU's 2020 renewable energy target must be abandoned as it calls for the implementation of expensive and immature technologies.

Furthermore, the EU and the UK must put more focus on low carbon research, development and demonstration to promote innovation to reduce mitigation with global appeal.
