Australia's national energy savings initiative
06 January 2012This paper was drafted by the Australian Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency in partnership with the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism.
It explains that the Australian Government is undertaking further work on a national energy savings initiative (NESI), which is in line with the nation's clean energy future plan.
The NESI working group is seeking views on aspects of design and implementation of a possible national energy savings initiative, from various individuals and organisations.
It will convene a series of public workshops on the issues paper in capital cities in early February 2012, which is subject to interest.
The responses to the paper will inform a progress report which will be submitted to the federal government.
