Alexander & Baldwin to Construct 6MW Solar Facility in the US

Alexander & Baldwin (A&B) and Kauai Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) plan to construct a 6MW solar PV facility in Kauai, Hawaii, US.

The plant will be developed and operated by a subsidiary of A&B on a 20-acre stretch of land, adjacent to KIUC's Port Allen Station power plant.

KIUC will install a battery energy storage system at the facility, which will be connected to the grid and will purchase the power generated from the plant under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Construction of the plant is scheduled to begin later this year, subject to the receipt of regulatory approvals and is expected to completed by the end of 2012.
