Shanghai Electric to Build Equipment for Nuclear Plant

A ¥2bn contract to provide equipment for a nuclear power plant in northeastern China has been won by Shanghai Electric, the 21st Business Herald reported.

The company will manufacture core equipment for the Hongyanhe nuclear power plant in Liaoning province, a joint venture between China Guangdong Nuclear, China Power Investment Corp and Dalian Construction Investment Corp, it said.

The Hongyanhe plant has four nuclear generators with capacity of 1 million kw each and will use second-generation nuclear technology, Chu Pinchang, a senior consultant with China Guangdong Nuclear, which holds a 45% stake in the nuclear power plant, told a conference.

Shanghai Electric plans to invest over ¥3bn to build a nuclear power equipment manufacturing base in Shanghai, the paper also reported.
