Chinese-Russo Power Plant Begins Operations04 June 2007 16:18 The first unit of the Tianwan nuclear power plant entered commercial service over the weekend, according to Russian media reports. Speaking to Itar-Tass, Atomstroiexport officials said: "Today an official document has been signed in Beijing to put into operation the first unit of the Tianwan nuclear power plant." Two units of the plant have been under Russo-Chinese development for over nine years. In May, Atomstroiexport completed the 100-hour uninterrupted testing of the first power-generating unit. The company said the construction of this nuclear power plant "was the first full-fledged order for Russia and the first project to be carried out under market conditions".
