Alstom to Build Brazilian Plant12 June 2007 14:29 Alstom has won a €330m contract to build a combined cycle power plant in Brazil. Commissioned by Brazilian steel producer ThyssenKrupp, the 490MW plant will be located in Sepetiba, Rio de Janeiro State. It will be powered by blast furnace waste from a steel mill being developed by ThyssenKrupp. The project will integrate two GT11N2 gas turbines, three turbo generators and one steam turbine. The GT11N2 gas turbines will produce 10% more compared with the more conventional steam plant solutions, Alstom claims, helping "industry reduce emissions and maximise commercial value". "Using gas that would otherwise be wasted to produce power is both of economic and environmental benefit," Alstom Power Systems president Philippe Joubert said in a statement. Excess energy will be exported to the national grid. » Email this link to a friend |
