Energy infrastructure company Alstom has been awarded a €175m contract with India's Gujarat State Electricity Corporation for the construction of a GT26-based combined cycle power plant.

Alstom will provide engineering, procurement and construction services as part of the 370MW plant extension to take place in the Utran, Surat District, as well as the heat recovery steam generator and distributed control system.

Alstom says the project will add 10% capacity to the plant, the fourth of its type to be constructed by the company in the Indian state.
