Kashiwazaki Plant Could Take Months to Reopen

10 August 2007 16:29

Japan's Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power station could take from up to a year to reopen, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency officials visiting the plant.

The group told Japanese reporters today, according to Australian news organisation ABC, how dire the situation at the plant has been following an earthquake that rocked the area last month.

The officials added that reported radioactive leaking had not made the plant a health risk but would not comment on particular damages that were sustained or other technical issues it may be facing.
