Solar Panels Power US Supermarket

13 September 2007 14:42

US-based grocery store Safeway has launched its first solar powered shop, as part of a 'green power' initiative.

Solar panels have been added to provide energy to power the 55,000m2 building.

The California store's existing gas station is already powered by wind energy.

Safeway says the move is part of an "extensive company-wide environmental focus".
